EARLY DIAGNOSIS SAVES LIVES

Know your members’ risk. Prevent late-stage Lung Cancer

Lung cancer causes more deaths than breast, prostate, and pancreatic cancers combined.

of lung cancer cases are diagnosed at late stages

When diagnosed early, the survival rate is high.

When diagnosed late, the survival rate is low.

For women with a cumulative lifetime breast risk ≥ 20 percent that are considered high-risk.

The Process

Oatmeal’s lung cancer screening platform leverages AI, machine learning, and computer vision to improve screening compliance and outcomes for FQHCs and health plans.

Identify

We predict which patients have a 20-pack-year history by scrubbing EHR data with AI, then based on results conduct a shared-decision making visit with our clinical team to determine eligibility, coordinate scheduling, and transport to the imaging center.

Screen

We scrutinize the radiology report, and if a nodule is discovered, we apply our FDA-approved computer vision AI to generate a malignancy risk report which is reimbursable by CMS. By reconciling any differences, we can determine the appropriate course of action.

Re-Screen

Using specialized culturally appropriate patient education, smoking cessation classes, and incentives we ensure patients come back every 3, 6, or 12 months for a rescan.

Artificial Intelligence

Our service includes access to pre-built AI capabilities that have been thoroughly vetted and trained on vast amounts of lung cancer data.

  • Machine Learning Patient Identification

By using machine learning, we are able to constantly monitor your patients’ medical records for any current or past illnesses as well as smoking history.

This information is crucial in identifying patients who are eligible for lung cancer screening as a 20-pack-year smoker, per USPSTF Guidelines, and developing personalized care plans specific to each patient’s needs.

  • Computer Vision Nodule Assessment

We assist with implementing an FDA-approved AI computer-aided diagnosis algorithm at the primary care health center that evaluates lung cancer CT scans nodules and assigns a malignancy risk score, utilizing various visual characteristics such as size, shape, and texture.

Based on the obtained score, we determine the subsequent course of action, including the recommended care path or rescreening schedule.

  • Generative AI Patient Education

Our approach involves creating educational messaging and videos that are tailored to the patient’s gender, age, language, culture, race, ethnicity, and community, taking into account their unique identity and background. By doing so, we aim to foster cultural sensitivity and improve patient compliance with preventive screenings.

Seeing someone who looks and speaks like the patient can help to establish trust and enhance the patient’s engagement in their healthcare journey.

Personalized Patient Engagement

Oatmeal provides comprehensive, fully managed services for patient engagement. Our patient engagement services are designed to optimize patient outcomes, deliver effective communication, and enhance patient satisfaction.

  • Shared Decision-Making Visits

Our healthcare team initiates contact with eligible patients to coordinate a CT scan appointment. We handle the entire scheduling process, considering all Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) factors, such as transportation and financial incentives, to enhance appointment adherence.

Oatmeal Health offers one-on-one coaching via telemedicine from a trained healthcare professional up to 8x per year per eligible patient.

  • Culturally Appropriate Patient Education

Our services are flexible, utilizing either your pre-existing messaging platforms (EPIC, Care Message, etc) for text, video, email, telemedicine, and phone or our proprietary communication tools.

What are partners are saying…

“Partnering with Oatmeal Health on this proof-of-concept project is important in terms of advancing lung cancer screening as a public health initiative. Equally important is bringing this opportunity to the patients we serve within the community health center movement who frequently suffer disproportionately, barriers to healthcare and lack of access to innovations in healthcare screening.”

“As the largest, rural Community Health Center in Oklahoma, one of the main focuses for our patients is access to affordable, quality care, with screenings being a big part of our primary and preventative mission. Our patients in rural areas often have many barriers to overcome, so partnering with Oatmeal will assist us in removing some of those barriers to provide the best possible access to lung cancer screenings available in the rural eastern portion of our state.”
