🔍 Automation bias is real
Radiologists are becoming too dependent on AI recommendations. When the algorithm says “no cancer,” we’re less likely to question it. One study found clinicians overrode correct human judgment 17% of the time when AI disagreed.

The solution isn’t avoiding AI, it’s building guardrails:
• Mandatory algorithmic audits every quarter
• Clear documentation of AI limitations in every report
• Protected time for radiologists to review AI decisions
• Training programs that teach both AI use AND traditional diagnosis
We wanted AI to augment clinical judgment. Instead, we’re letting it replace it.

Today as CEO of Oatmeal Health, I lead a team embedding AI into radiology workflows to turn routine lung CT scans into reimbursable cancer risk assessments. We partner with FQHCs to reach underserved communities, and with health systems and payers to make early detection economically sustainable. Think HeartFlow or Cleerly, but for lungs.
