Accessibility

Screening access starts with an accessible website.

Oatmeal Health helps health centers reach patients who are often left out of preventive care. We want everyone to be able to use our website and products, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, captions, or other assistive technology.

Our commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA across oatmealhealth.com. This is the standard referenced by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for health care organizations, and it is the standard many of our health center and hospital partners are held to.

Accessibility is ongoing work. We review new pages and features as we build them, and we fix issues as we find them.

What we have done

  • Readable color contrast. Our brand colors were adjusted so body text, links, and buttons meet WCAG AA contrast ratios.
  • Minimum text size. We set a 12 pixel minimum for text on our pages, and pages can be zoomed in the browser.
  • Text alternatives. We add descriptive alt text to meaningful images and hide purely decorative images from screen readers.
  • Transcripts for audio. Our demo patient calls include a full written transcript that highlights along with the audio.
  • Keyboard access. Links, buttons, and audio players are built to work with a keyboard and show a visible focus outline.
  • Reduced motion. Our animations pause for visitors who have asked their device to reduce motion.
  • Mobile layouts. Pages reflow to a single column on phones, with touch targets sized for easy tapping.

Known limitations

Some parts of our site do not yet fully meet our goal. We are working on them:

  • Some older blog posts and PDF documents, such as whitepapers and reports, may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We can provide an accessible version on request.
  • Some videos may not yet have captions or audio descriptions.
  • Content and tools provided by third parties, such as embedded scheduling or social media, may not meet the same standard.

Our products

LungIQ, LungNAV, and LungAI are used by health center staff, and LungNAV speaks directly with patients. We hold our products to the same accessibility goal as our website. LungNAV patient calls are available in more than 70 languages, and patients can ask to be connected to their health center's team at any time.

Health centers and hospitals evaluating our products can contact us for accessibility details as part of their review.

Feedback and help

If you have trouble using any part of our website, or you need information in a different format, please let us know. Tell us the page address and what happened, and we will work with you to provide the information another way. We aim to respond within two business days.

If you are a patient with a question about your own screening or appointment, please contact your health center directly.
