Cancer care just hit a $2B valuation. No hospital built it.
A startup built on virtual navigation did. 🎯
Thyme Care raised $125 million in a Series E round this week, pushing its valuation above $2 billion, according to CNBC. That valuation roughly doubled from its Series D less than a year ago.
Let that sink in for a second.
The round was led by Morgan Health, with participation from Humana, CVS Health Ventures, AlleyCorp, HealthQuest Capital, and a16z Bio + Health. That is not a list of tourist investors. That is a signal.
🔹 $125M raised in Series E
🔹 Valuation now above $2 billion
🔹 Services available to more than 10.5 million people across all 50 U.S. states
🔹 Manages more than $7 billion in oncology spend
🔹 Revenue surpassed $125 million last year, five times more than the prior year
Thyme Care launched in 2020 with a simple but uncomfortable insight. The hardest part of a cancer diagnosis is not always the treatment. It is everything that happens in between appointments. The questions, the confusion, the care coordination gaps that no one owns.
They built a virtual navigation platform around exactly that space.
💡 What this round actually signals: when Morgan Health leads and Humana and CVS follow, you are not looking at a venture bet. You are looking at a strategic acquisition of influence. These payers are not writing checks out of generosity. They are buying proximity to a platform managing $7 billion in oncology spend.
And now Thyme Care is going bigger. The company is forming a new parent entity called ThymeCompanies, expanding into drug affordability and clinical trial access. Co-founder Robin Shah will serve as Executive Chairman of the new parent.
That is not a fundraise. That is a platform play.
At Oatmeal Health, we know something about building infrastructure for patients who fall through the cracks of a fragmented system. The oncology navigation gap that Thyme Care is solving is real, and it is massive.
The honest observation here: the fact that payers are now co-investing in the navigation layer between themselves and patients says everything about where the real leverage in cancer care sits. It is not in the drug. It is not in the scan. It is in who holds the patient’s hand through the journey.
That space is now worth $2 billion. And we are still early.

I help patients get the care they need earlier, preventing late-stage cancer.
That’s been the throughline across three companies and almost 20 years in healthcare. At ReferralMD, we fixed broken referral networks so patients didn’t fall through the cracks. At Oatmeal Health, it’s lung cancer: building the diagnostic and screening infrastructure so the 85% of cases caught too late get caught early instead.
Today as CEO of Oatmeal Health, I lead a team embedding AI into radiology workflows to turn routine lung CT scans into reimbursable cancer risk assessments. We partner with FQHCs to reach underserved communities, and with health systems and payers to make early detection economically sustainable. Think HeartFlow or Cleerly, but for lungs.
Between companies, I advised at Techstars and Plug and Play, mentoring founders building in digital health. That experience shaped how I think about what separates companies that ship from companies that stall: distribution, reimbursement, and clinical trust, not just technology.
I’m a CancerX alumnus, a 3x healthcare founder, and someone who believes the biggest problems in cancer aren’t scientific. They’re operational.
We’re hiring mission-driven builders at Oatmeal Health. If you want to work on something that matters, reach out.
When I’m not working, I’m traveling, mentoring, and keeping up with one very energetic husky. 🐾
